“dataByDate” saves files that were altered since (or from or until) a particular date to a folder, a disk, a network drive etc. Certain file types (e.g. INITs, applications …) can be excluded from the savings process.
“dataByDate” runs under HyperCard 2.
WHAT “dataByDate” DOES NOT:
– “dataByDate” does not compress files.
– “dataByDate” does not alter the files, not even the modifying date of the saved files.
– “dataByDate” does not save the file hierarchies. Therefore it is not able to save files with equal names from different folders.
“dataByDate” is fast, flexible and very easy to handle.
“dataByDate” (vs. 1.06) uses the following external functions or commands:
XCMD "FileCopy" by Frédéric Rinaldi
XFCN "Files" by Guy de Picciotto
XFCN "FileType" by Larry Wolfarth
XFCN "FileCreator" by Larry Wolfarth
XFCN "FileModDate" by Dewi Williams
Developed with the help of Steve Drazga´s Developer Stack
using some ideas of Gregor Retti. Many thanks to all of them…
“dataByDate” is free for all non-commercial distribution, but I reserve the right to change this policy for future versions. The software may NOT be distributed on disks which are sold on ANY price without prior permission of the author.

•• Help:
• By clicking the button "Select source folders…" you collect the folders that contain data to be saved. “dataByDate” remembers that configuration. In any folder there must be at least one file.
(Clicking with option-key deletes the configuration.)
• With the button "Select target…" you select target drive and/or target folder.
The target folder must contain at least one file. It must not belong to the source folders.
• The button "Save…" starts the copying of files. Files with equal names are overwritten! You can also start the saving process with command-return.
• The button in the lower right corner quits HyperCard or leads - with option-key - to the Home Stack.
•• Features:
• In the notes field you can save certain saving configurations. Here you also get the list of errors.
• With the button "Notes & Help…" you can delete your notes or you can get the help text.
Clicking with command-key "zooms" the field, so that you can see or hide other fields and "buttons" (see below!)
• The buttons "since", "from" and "until" show dataByDate´s mode: saving files "since" a certain day, files "from" that day or files "until" that day.
The button "since" changes to "from", button "from" to "until", button "until" to "since".
• The button "with subfolders" defines, if you want to save data from all subfolders of the source folders or not.
• The button "wrap text" toggles the wrapping property of the text field with your source folders.
• The button "Examine…" tests your data hierarchy in the sources folder. It can be
a) "expanded" (all subfolders are shown) and
b) "reduced" (only the relevant super-folders are shown).
• When you zoom the notes field you can see other fields. In those fields you can enter fileType and fileCreator of those files you do not want to save.
You can select these fileTypes und fileCreators with the corresponding "buttons".
